A home in Truro was reduced to its foundation after a massive, overnight explosion rocked neighboring communities for miles, according to officials. No injuries were reported after the structure was leveled, sending debris across the property and shockwaves that were felt by locals nearly 20 miles away.“Tremendous explosion, big flash of light – we weren’t sure what it was,” said Rich Roberts, who witnessed the event and described a secondary explosion that created a massive fireball. “We both got out of bed and looked around and, I thought it was lightening (that) hit, but of course it was a completely clear night. One person died Friday after a fire broke out in a home in Rowley, state and local officials announced. The state Department of Fire Services said Rowley firefighters responded to a site on Railroad Avenue after a report of smoke shortly after 4 a.m. Officials said firefighters arriving at the scene and moving into the home found one person, described as an older adult male, who was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.Rowley Fire Chief Mike Emery said the first firefighters entering the home did not hear smoke alarms. Fire crews from seven area communities aided Rowley firefighters on scene at Friday’s fire, which officials said great to three alarms. The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Friday afternoon, though officials said it did not appear suspicious.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — An early morning fire destroyed part of a large high school in the southern Idaho city of Pocatello on Friday.No one was injured in the fire, but Pocatello Fire Department Assistant Chief Shane Grow said one wing of Highland High School was completely destroyed. LA LOCHE, Sask. — The mayor of a northern Saskatchewan community says a student stabbed two people at the high school in La Loche.Georgina Jolibois says the student stabbed a staff member and another student at the Dene High School.
